We are all the time getting calls to rehabilitate old water wells.  A lot of these wells are over 50 years old.  This was the case with this well.  It is a 3″ water well with steel casing and we clean the rust out of the well bore, blow it out with high pressure air until clean, sterilize with a non-chlorine based sterilizer, and then install pump system, after which time we install a rust preventative agent that is food grade.  Once this well is working again, it should be a long time before it needs to be serviced in this manner, maybe even another 50 years!  This well had an old twin pipe venturi centrifugal pump (two stage).  Up until recently it produced a whopping 5 gpm with a one horsepower motor on it.  Our newly installed submersible will produce 10 gpm with a 1/2 hp motor, making it much more efficient.
