No Water? Read This First.

Me- Hello, you have reached the office of J.P. Anderson Well & Pump LLC, what can we do for you?

Customer – We have No Water.

Me – No Water? Let’s try to get someone there as fast as we can.  Once we get your information, we can give you a scheduled time, but first, we need to go over a few things to make sure it isn’t something simple.

If you read this first, it will save some time!  Something we all could use more of.

We get calls all the time for “No water”. It is normal to panic a little, because people can only go for so long without it. Below is a few helpful hints to save some time and money in the event the well has problems.

1). Check your breakers. Flip breaker all the way off and then back on.

2). If you have a newer pump system, try leaving off for 10 minutes and then turning back on. Newer pumps have computer circuits that may need to be rebooted.

3). If pump is visible above ground, notice if it is running or not. Submersible vibration can also be felt at top of well head. If pump is running and not producing water, shut it off at breaker for 30 minutes and then try restarting.

4). If pump motor is not running, and breaker is not tripping, look inside pressure switch. Before attempting to visually inspect switch, turn off electricity at breaker. Take off cover using an adjustable wrench to loosen cover nut. See picture of what the cover looks like:

Be careful as high voltage may shock you. Look for insect infestation inside of switch. Use computer keyboard compressed air to flush any ants or spiders out of contacts. Use non-metallic nail file to clean contacters.

5). If pump is running and piping is deformed or leaking, shut off power and call someone as quickly as possible so that they may schedule your call.

6). Turn off hot water heater too. It could be damaged if it runs without water.

We now have Scheduling right from our website!

Hope this helps.
