Well tricks to know

Down South we have real problems with ants playing havoc with water systems. I have seen them build nests next to a well or under a tank in order to be protected by the relative uniform temperature of ground water.

In the hot summer they are attracted to electricity for some strange reason. My biggest emergency service call is for ants and for some reason it seems to cluster around July 4th.

A quick tip is to sprinkle ground cinnamon in the bottom of switch. Ants can’t stand it! Petroleum jelly on outside wire Romex Clamp will also help keep them out. DO NOT SPRAY WD-40 on switch! It will malfunction in short order!

If ants have mounded around well system, do not use poisons. Use dish soap mixed with hot water and drown as many as you can. The soap literally drowns them.

Check back often and I will post more helpful tips!
